Based in Paris (France) and headed by the founder and principal owner Dr. Maria Cellamare, Phyto-Quality (SARL) operates in a large variety of aquatic ecosystems, including freshwater and transitional environments. Maria has more than 15 years experience in taxonomical identification of microalgae and their use as biological indicators.

After several years working in marine ecosystems in Venezuela, she continued her career in France and Italy studying the phytoplankton in freshwater lakes and coastal lagoons. Her PhD thesis carried out at Irstea (*) and the University of Bordeaux (France) dealt with the assessment of the ecological status of lakes using primary producers (phytoplankton, phytobenthos, macrophytes). After a Post-doctoral experience at the University of Salento (Italy) and the consultancy firm Bi-Eau (France), she worked for 2 years in the laboratory “Cyanobacteria, Cyanotoxins and Environment" of the National Museum of Natural History of Paris. During this career path, numerous scientific articles were published.

The experience obtained in several research institutes allows Phyto-Quality to integrate scientific knowledge and expertise to provide an accurate water quality assessment, crucial  for managing sanitary and associated public health risks. To ensure a quality service, our knowledge is regularly updated by participating in conferences, training courses and collaboration with international specialists.

Our activities and expertise are aimed to governmental agencies, municipalities, industries, aquaculture farms, research institutes and universities, consultants, associations and the public concerned by local water quality.
